The Exchange

The backbone of Chemfinet Services is the Chemfinet Exchange. The Exchange is the world’s first Internet service dedicated to the on-line procurement of custom fine chemicals. We have developed this innovative service that provides a neutral market for buying and selling custom chemicals. We utilize the capabilities of the Internet to streamline the demanding process of acquiring bids from reliable sellers.

The Chemfinet Exchange is neutral, in that we do not favor any buyers or sellers. We do make sure that only qualified registrations are issued. If we aren't sure, we follow up until we are satisfied. Then, each and every Request For Quote (RFQ) is reviewed by our staff before betting posted on the site. This is to make sure that each RFQ represents is a good business lead for a custom synthesis manufacturer. We don't want to scare away the Sellers (manufacturers) with a bunch of "casual" RFQs that don't produce business.

Similarly, each and every bid is reviewed by our staff to make sure that the company can deliver on it's promises and has had a good track record with us. We want to make sure that our Buyers have confidence in the sources that they utilize via Chemfinet.

Organization and Operation of the Exchange

The Exchange is based on Buyer members posting the hard-to-find molecules that they need to buy. The Seller members then can offer bids to produce or procure these materials. Unlike the typical auction model, the Exchange has no preset rules or predetermined logic that dictates the selection of winning bids. It is much more sophisticated tool than an auction since the Buyer can accept bids and offers on the basis of whatever criteria the member deems important, whether it be price, availability, quantity, location, specifications, or other parameters. Also, the Buyer is not obligated to accept any bids or offers.

Seller Members can place bids on as many postings as they wish. However, a member cannot bid on his or her own RFQ, and a Seller can place only one active bid against any specific posted RFQ. The bids can be modified by the Seller if needed, based on negotiation with the Buyer.

Confidentiality is of utmost importance to many of our Buyers and is ensured via our advanced site software. The Sellers do not see the identity of the Buyer, and this helps protect the Buyer's information as well as increasing the quality of the bids that they receive.

Chemfinet takes care of the myriad details throughout this process. We provide whatever services are necessary to make the transactions successful, and we strive to make this process more pleasant and productive for everyone involved.

Off the Site Sourcing

Sometimes the Buyers want to ensure the highest level of confidentiality in their procurement process. They don't want to "advertise" the molecular structures of their APIs or intermediates, even in the anonymous framework of the Chemfinet Exchange. In this case we are happy to handle the sourcing assignment "off-the-site": that is, we will make discreet inquiries to the few key suppliers that we believe will offer the best value to the Buyer, and therefore keep the the sensitive information on a "need to know" basis. We can handle all of the Supply Chain work for you.

Global Competence

There are many excellent custom chemical manufacturers throughout the globe. However, business cultures and practices are NOT the same everywhere, and these cultural differences can cause misunderstandings or make it impossible to complete deals. Chemfinet has alliances and relationships with companies in all parts of the globe who will act on your behalf when needed, to ensure that you experience smooth negotiations and transactions.

In-House Expertise

Chemfinet is a joint venture of International Specialty Chemicals (ISC) and Valsynthese . ISC is the "Sourcing Specialists" and have a network of relationships with manufacturers all over the world. We rely on their expertise for sourcing, qualifying vendors, and handling some of the supply chain aspects of our work. Valsynthese (a wholly owned subsidiary of Group Société Suisse des Explosifs) is a cGMP custom chemicals manufacturer located in Switzerland; their particular competencies include oxidation and nitration.
